To be a woman and to take on the role of bystander to the ever-changing human functions of conception, growth, and birth, seems to me a precarious state of being. And yet, I suppose it is important to consider this question: why nature chose women for the job in the first place? In my unscientific opinion the answer seems obvious, because women have the makeup to handle it. Perhaps the resolution I seek lies here, in a woman's inherent strength to overcome, to stand up, and to keep moving.
